Car upgrades everyone can do from their garage
Modifying your car is a great way to personalise it and improve its appearance. However, depending on the type of car mod you choose, modifying it can be extremely expensive. As such, for some of us, modifying our cars is simply not a wise financial decision. However, you don't need that much money to make some cool, cheap, and simple car mods. Here are a few examples.
1) Use Plasti Dip for a sleek matte black finish on your wheels and grille
To have your wheels, grille, and emblems sprayed down, you could take your car to a professional car sprayer, but they will probably charge you a lot of money. Try Plasti Dip instead, which you can remove without harming the material underneath when you decide you no longer like it.
It's one of the simplest and least expensive ways to customise the colour of your car, but be careful around the headlights!
2) Coloured headlight films
Headlight and taillight films are an easy mod to apply and can transform the look of your Car at an affordable cost, plus they’re available in a tonne of different colours and finishes.
It’s as easy as sticking the wrap sheet to a clean headlight, ensuring all the bubbles are squeezed out with a squeegee, heating the vinyl with a heat gun to conform it around the curve of the light, and then trimming the excess around the edges, making sure to be careful not to scratch your bodywork.
3) Install Wind Deflectors
Wind deflectors are a cheap easy car mod you can add to your car. If you often have to drive in wet weather, or just like to get a bit of fresh air in your car while you’re driving in the rain, but don’t want to ruin your car's interior, then rain visors could be the solution.
Not only that, but they also help to prevent misting of car windows when it rains, reduce winter condensation, and reduce sun glare through side windows.
4) Upgrade to LED headlights
Most cars are fitted with standard halogen headlamps, which doesn’t give you the best visibility, especially in harsh weather conditions. LED lights are not only brighter, but they also cast a wider canvas of light, and use less energy than halogen bulbs.
Refer to your vehicle's owner's manual for instructions on how to change the headlight bulbs.
5) Custom gear knob
Another easy car upgrade you can try for the interior of your car if you drive a manual is to install a custom gear stick knob. When driving a manual, your hand is constantly racing for the gearstick, so having one that’s comfortable and gives you plenty of grip is important. Although, you could just install one to add a bit of personal flair to your interior.
