Vauxhall Corsa Review - Is the Corsa a Good Used Car?

All of the numbers have been crunched for the year and it’s official, the best selling used car of 2022 at Bob Davies Car Sales is the Vauxhall Corsa! So, what exactly is it that makes this compact car so popular? Read on to find out our take!

What is it like to drive?

The Vauxhall Corsa is secure and good to drive, with a range of engine options available:

  • 1.2-litre 75PS petrol

  • 1.2-litre 100PS petrol

  • 128bhp 130PS 1.2-litre petrol

  • 50kWh electric

The 75PS is all you will need for getting around town, although if you frequently find yourself on high-speed roads, it is definitely worth upgrading to the Turbo petrol 100PS which will make merging onto motorways easier with an admirable 9.3-second acceleration from 0 to 60mph. The 130PS is faster still and the all-electric version holds up well, with Vauxhall claiming a 0-to-60 mph time of just 7.6 seconds.

The Corsa’s steering is incredibly light, which makes parking and manoeuvres really simple, which is just one of the reasons why the model is particularly alluring to new drivers. While perhaps not considered the best in the class, the Corsa also comes out above average for cabin noise, suspension and comfort.

Practicality

The Corsa is great for space in the front, with ample head and leg room for the driver and front passenger. In addition to a glove box, door bins and armrest storage, there is even a handy storage tray which is ideal for a phone or wallet under the dash.

The Vauxhall Corsa is a small car, expectations for rear space shouldn’t be high. That being said, two adults could sit in the back with a decent amount of head room and it provides more space than most rivals in its class. Boot space is also decent for the overall size of the car, providing ample room for a large weekly shop or several strategically stacked suitcases.

Interior

For a small car, the Corsa is surprisingly well equipped. No matter which trim you opt for, you will get LED headlights and daytime running lights as standard. With the Ultimate trim, these will be upgraded to LED Matrix headlights, with adaptive output to prevent dazzling other drivers with the main beam active. It is rare to find such an advanced feature in this class and it is not the only one. The range-topping Ultimate trim also comes with a massage function in the driver’s seat!

The Corsa comes with a touchscreen infotainment system with a display which is at least 7 inches wide and 10 inches in the Ultimate version. DAB radio, Bluetooth, USB, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are all included.

Costs

The Corsa is a budget-friendly option in multiple respects. It is affordable to buy, cheap to insure and its efficient engines also mean that the model will not cost a lot to run either.

Choosing a used Vauxhall Corsa and applying for car finance can also make the car even more affordable!
